The XBoost Controller is responsible for the configuration of the XBoost environment. It acts as the central 'hub' for all of the XBoost Satellites. The controller can be installed on either a Java or .NET platform. See the system requirements page for details.
The XBoost Satellite is defined as a domain or an application within a domain. Running the satellite as a domain means all of the applications would share the same application scope and memory space. Running the satellite as a application within a domain means each application would occupy its own scope and memory space. Determining how your applications are configured will help you select the appropriate number of satellites to run your environment. The satellite can be installed on either a Java or .NET platform. See the system requirements page for details.
Each XBoost environment supports a Public User. The Public User is available for anonymous users to access resources in an XBoost environment. Anonymous users to an XBoost site are 'placed' in the Public User Group and assigned to the Public User, then authenticated. This allows XBoost to operate without exceptions to the rule when it comes to authentication and authorization.
